
PESHAWAR: Atizaz Hasan the student who sacrificed his life to stop a suicide bomber at a school in Hangu has been declared a ‘great hero’ by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government.
Atizaz a class IX student was killed when the suicide bomber blew himself up in front of the gate of the government school. Atizaz saved the lives of hundreds of other students when he prevented the suicide bomber from entering the school.
Atizaz was on his way to school on the morning of January 6 when he spotted a suspicious person. When the brave student called out to this person, he increased his speed and proceeded towards the school. In an effort to the stop the attacker, Atizaz threw a stone which failed to hit him. This is when Atizaz ran towards the bomber and grabbed him, thus preventing the attacker from entering the school. The suicide bomber detonated his vest and Atizaz Hasan lost his life.
Locals are calling for Atizaz’s sacrifice to be acknowledged on a federal level as he not only demonstrated bravery but also intelligence and courage.
