KARACHI: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday took notice of the killing of a taxi driver in Karachi by a member of the paramilitary Rangers, Express News reported.
The accused who was booked for killing the unarmed taxi driver on July 16, was arrested and brought to a Karachi court on Thursday.
Taxi driver Murad Ali was driving his son Zohaib to a doctor near their home in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, before stopping to buy fruit for Iftar when he was shot dead by Ghulam Rasul, the Rangers soldier responsible for the incident.
The driver was shot four times in the chest. Murad’s son was unharmed but he was unable to speak after witnessing the whole shocking episode.
Earlier during the day, the court awarded four-day physical remand of the Rangers officer and asked police to investigate him and submit a report during the next hearing.
