PEMRA asks Absar Alam to return salaries of 5 crore Rs received as chairman PEMRA

2. I am directed to state that a W.P. No. 38449/2015 titled "MUNIR AHMED VS FEDERATION OF PAKISTAN & OTHERS" was filed before the Ilon'ble Lahore High Court, against the appointment of Mr. Absar Alam, Chairman PEMRA. The said petition was decided/ disposed of on 18-12-2017 by the lion'ble Court wherein, a notification regarding appointment of Chairman PEMRA was set aside. The operative Para of the said judgment is hereby reproduced hereunder for ready reference. "79(i) The appointment of the respondent No.4 (Mr. Absar Alam) as Chairman, PEMRA is without lawful authority and of no legal effect and hence void ab initio"

3. It is further stated that you, Mr. Absar Alam have drawn a gross amount of Rs. 50,366.420/-for the period from December, 2015 to December, 2017 on account of Salary which need to be recovered in light of the above judgment of Hon'ble Lahore High Court. Therefore, you are requested to please deposit the outstanding/ requisite amount i.e 50,0366,420/- (Fifty Million Three Hundred Sixty Six Thousand Four Hundred and Twenty Only1 in PEMRA DD() Account No. 0403-1005319437, Bank Alfalah, G-8 Markaz Branch, Islamabad. The deposit slip in original may be provided to Finance Wing of PEMRA for record, please.

4. These issues with the approval of the competent authority.
