Pune, Oct 1: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who was sent to jail in connection with Bombay bomb blast 1993 case, has been released on Tuesday, Oct 1. The actor has been given parole for 14 days citing his deteriorating health condition. He will be out of jail for coming 14 days when he will be under medical treatment. The Supreme Court earlier in July 2013 had dismissed Dutt's curative petition seeking a review of the court's verdict in connection with Bombay Blasts 1993 case. The Bollywood actor had exhausted all legal options to become a free man but all his efforts had gone in vain. Dismissing Dutt's plea, the apex court said that no case has been made out for it to review its decision of convicting the actor. A curative petition is filed after the dismissal of the review petition and is decided in the chambers of judges, and not in open court. Dutt earlier was taken to Pune's Sassoon Hospital where he had met a team of four doctors. Dutt had underwent a full general medical check-up in the hospital.
The medical check-up of the actor had lasted for at least three hours. Soon after his treatment in the hospital, Dutt was taken back to the prison amid tight security. The 53-year-old actor was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case for possessing illegal weapons. Of the total term of five years, Dutt has already served 18 months in jail two decades ago and the Supreme Court, in its order of March 21, asked him to serve another 42 months. Dutt had surrendered before a court in Mumbai on May 16. Later he was taken to Pune.
