SUKKUR: Shah Abdul Latif University (Salu), Khairpur, cancelled on Wednesday the degree of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA since he failed to produce the required credentials.
The complaint of MNA Dewan Ashiq Hussain’s allegedly fake degree was made by Qasim Noon, who filed an application with the examinations controller at Salu. He complained that Hussain, who is an MNA from NA-153 in Multan, claimed to have done his Master’s in Political Science in 2005 but had failed to attach his credentials with the examination form.
According to Salu media coordinator Dr Taj Lashari, the examinations controller issued a notice to the MNA, requesting him to submit his Bachelor’s degree and his Intermediate certificate, which is a pre-requisite. Since 2005, the MNA has failed to submit his credentials to the university, despite various notices. Hence, the university decided to cancel his Master’s degree on Wednesday, confirmed Dr Lashari.
He recalled that Hussain had filed his examination forms for MA Political Science from Government Degree College, Shikarpur, in the year 2005.
How was the candidate issued an admit card, if there were no credentials? Dr Lashari explained that the examination forms were received at the eleventh hour so the university issued an admit card to the student. “We don’t want to deprive any person from seeking education,” he tried to reason.
